Helix's Review

There have been many reports of a feud between Helix and Shrek. These rumors are simply not true. Yes, while Shrek was racking up millions at the box office, Helix gathered little attention. He was forced to live in a crowded box in the back room of a retail store awaiting the Halloween season when he might finally be put on display. But this is not the ogre's fault.

When Helix was finally released to the public, he received the same adoration that Shrek enjoyed for so long. While the two creatures are not jealous of each other's success, it is fair to say that a healthy competitive spirit does exist between the two monsters. Helix and Shrek are always trying to outdo each other. Shrek has a Princess for a girlfriend but Helix has POINTY horns.

Helix and Donkey have also become good friends. They have a lot in common. Neither have toes. Both are chatterboxes and both have been known to date dragons. They have also been known to hang out at Shrek's Swamp Karaoke bar.

Shrek appeals to monster movie-goers young and old. The story is simple but one that will make you smile the entire way through. The detail in the film is incredible - facial expressions are lifelike as well as the use of shadows and reflections.

The running time does seem a little short. Helix hoped to see more of the Fairytale creatures. But, overall, this is one of Helix's favorite movies of the year! In fact, Helix declares Shrek the BEST DVD of 2001. There are so many extras packed into the 2-disc set that you will spend HOURS and never get bored.
